Quail Hunting

Q: What should I bring?

A: Good Hunting Boots, Blaze Orange Cap and Game Vest or Jacket, Ear protection, Shooting eye ware protection, Snake gators or Snake chaps during warm months, Gun, Shot Shells (#7 or #8), Hunting license Valid, Small Cooler to transport your harvest home, Dress for weather conditions (Heat-Cold-Rain)
     

Q: Do you allow me to hunt with my dogs?

A: All of our hunts are guided and that includes pointing dogs. However we encourage you to bring your dogs. Half of the enjoyment is hunting behind a great field dog. If you decide to run your own dogs we will keep our dogs on standby should your brace need a break. Our goal is to make YOUR hunting experience as enjoyable as possible.
 
Q:How many covey's can we expect to see on a half day hunt if I'm hunt in a party of four (4)?

A:You should see between 10 an 15 covey's and many more single's double's as our goal is to keep you on birds.

Q: Do you hunt from UTV's or horse back?

A: Our hunts are designed to get you on the ground and into birds and keep you into birds. Since we manage the ranch to hold many birds it does not require us the travel long distant between covey's. However we do travel to new area's on the ranch in late model trucks. Our hunts are walking hunts across gentle roll fields and grassland. Should you have trouble walking and require the assistance of a vehicle please request this option at the time you book your hunt as our UTV availability is limited.

Q:Can I bring my own UTV or ATV? 

A: Yes you can bring your own UTV/ ATV vehicle however we limit access to your guides hunting area. We do not allow free range driving of hunting vehicle's on our property.

Q: What is the Bag Limit?

A:The Texas State Law Permits 15 per hunter per day

Q: Do you have a Cleaning service?

A: Yes we provide cleaning service for all game and bag it. We recommend that you bring a small cooler with ice to transport you harvest home with.
If you forget ice there is bags of ice for sales at a nearby store.

Duck Hunting

Q: Do you allow me to hunt with my dogs?

A: All of our hunts are guided and that includes retrieving dogs. However we encourage you to bring your dogs. If you decide to run your own dogs we will keep our dogs on standby should your dog need a break. Our goal is to make YOUR hunting experience as enjoyable as possible. Please indicate when booking your hunt that you plan to hunt with your dog.
 
Q:How many duck can we expect to see on a half day hunt if I'm hunt in a party of four (4)?

A:Ducks are a migratory bird that travel long distances in a single day. However they need to rest and find good food sources. We pre-scout our hunting locations and lakes to locate the birds. This means that our hunting location needs to be some what flexible. We contact our hunting party the night before every hunt to cement our plans and hunting locations

Q: Do you hunt from blinds?

A: Yes we use portal blinds when hunting large water and we have fixed blinds at our private lakes and ponds.

Q:What should I bring?

A:  Waders- are needed in many locations. We have some set ups that don't require waders. We can rent waders if needed but sizes can be limited. Our wader rental is sock type neoprene - If your bring and old pair of large lace up boots that can get wet and fit over the neoprene 3mm you should be fine. (Rental Fee $20). You can order them from our web store as well. 
Gun- 12ga. is the preferred gun (16ga and 20ga will do as well)
-Soft sided gun case
-Day pack for shell and other gear
-Ear and Eye Protection
-Shot/Non-Toxic #3 or 4's work best 
-Clothes Full camo jacket, hat, gloves, face mask or paint. 
-Layered clothing works best to meet temperatures 
-Call (duck) optional 
-Thermos with coffee if you drink joe
-State Small GameLicense W/State and Federal waterfowl stamp is required
-Seat cushion optional 
-Flash light - Head light works best

Q: What is the Bag Limit?

A:The 2011 Texas State Law Permits should permit 5 or 6 ducks (mixed bag) per hunter per day. Duck limits are published later in the year around September.
